The Sargasso Sea is a unique region in the North Atlantic, home to a floating algae called Sargassum, which turtles and other organisms use for parts of their life cycle. Scientists collect data, including the temperatures of Sargassum mats, to determine if the Sargassum contributes to the incubation of juvenile sea turtles that spend their "lost years" in Lake Sargasso.
